Santat, Dan

A First Time for Everything

Dan Santat is the Caldecott Medal-winning creator of The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend, the #1 New York Times-bestselling Are We There Yet?, and the New York Times–bestselling book After the Fall (How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again). Dan is the author and illustrator of over a hundred books for young people. His latest works include the bestselling graphic novels, The Aquanaut and A First Time for Everything.

Dan grew up in Southern California and is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design. He is the creator of the animated television series, The Replacements. He has worked with numerous children’s book authors and illustrators including Dav Pilkey (Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot series), Samantha Berger (Crankenstein), Minh Le (Drawn Together, Lift, The Blur), and Laurel Snyder (Endlessly Ever After).

Dan lives outside of Los Angeles with his wife, two kids, and many, many pets.
