Roxie Munro is the author/illustrator of more than 45 nonfiction, STEM/STEAM, and concept books for children, many using “gamification” to encourage reading, learning, and engagement (including Mazescapes; Amazement Park; the Inside-Outside Books: New York City [New York Times Best Illustrated Award], Washington DC, Texas, London, Paris, and Libraries; Feathers, Flaps & Flops; Doors; Gargoyles, Girders & Glass Houses; Ranch; Circus; Mazeways: A to Z; Rodeo; Go!Go!Go!; and Inside-Outside Dinosaurs). Her books have been translated into French, Italian, Dutch, Chinese, and Japanese. Recent books include Lizards at Large; A Day in the Life of the Desert; Anteaters, Bats & Boas (the Amazon rainforest); Dive In: Swim with Sea Creatures at their Actual Size; Rodent Rascals (3 starred reviews!); Masterpiece Mix; and Market Maze. Honors include Outstanding Science Trade Book, NSTA & CBC; Bank St College Best Book w/Outstanding Merit; Society of International Librarians Honor Award; Smithsonian’s Best Science Book for Children; and the Bank Street Cook Prize Honor for STEM. Prior to creating children’s books, Roxie worked in Washington DC as a TV courtroom artist. She’s done editorial illustration for the Washington Post, the Associated Press, and 14 covers for the New Yorker.
