Matthew has been working as an author and an illustrator or over thirty years, but he has been drawing and making up stories for as long as he can remember.
He grew up outside of Albany, New York and lives not far from there today. He went to college at Alfred University, then graduate school at the University of Buffalo. He has a studio in his home which he shares with his wife, Christy, and a bunch of pets.
When he is not working on illustration and children’s books, he teaches as a professor at Russell Sage College in Albany, NY.
