Azúa Kramer, Jackie

BOOGIE in the BRONX

Jackie is an award-winning and internationally translated children’s book author with a master’s in counseling in Education. She has published over a dozen picture books including: THE GREEN UMBRELLA; THE BOY AND THE GORILLA; I WISH YOU KNEW; MANOLO AND THE UNICORN; EMPANADAS FOR EVERYONE; RHYTHM and BOOGIE IN THE BRONX. Jackie’s books have been honored as Bank Street Best Children’s Book of the Year and Bank Street Best Children’s Books in Spanish. A Junior Library Guild Gold Selection. A Parents’ Magazine Book Pick and Chicago Public Library “Best of the Best Books”. Winner of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators Crystal Kite award. Winner of Japan’s 31st Bronze Kembuchi Picture Book Award, Mom’s Choice Award – Gold and Parents’ Choice Silver Honor, International Latino Silver Award for Best Fiction Picture Book, Children’s Book Council Shortlist Book Prize for Social Justice and Northern Lights Book Award Mindfulness Category. Jackie strives to write books that meet children where they are and reflect what children see in their mirrors and out of their windows. She lives in Long Island, NY. When not writing, you’ll find her reading, watching old movies and traveling to her family’s roots in Ecuador, Puerto Rico and Spain.
