Maria grew up snorkeling and hiking in Honduras, where her stories of conservation and friendship are usually set. Her debut novel, Turtles of the Midnight Moon, was a Winter 2023 Indie’s Introduces and Indie’s Next pick. Turtles of the Midnight Moon was also awarded a bronze medal in the middle grade category at the International Latino Book Awards. Maria lives in New Jersey with her husband, two children, and 3 noisy canines.
