Alyssa Satin Capucilli is the author of over 100 books for young readers including Biscuit, the popular bestseller used to launch the My First I Can Read Series from HarperCollins. With over one hundred titles in the series as well as over fifty million books in print, Biscuit has been deemed a modern classic and has been translated into numerous languages worldwide. Now celebrating its 28th year of publication, the New York Public Library noted that Biscuit is one of the library system’s most borrowed books. Recently, ArtsPower debuted the national tour of Biscuit the Musical based on the Biscuit books. Once a professional dancer, Alyssa’s love of dance is embodied in her series, Katy Duck, illustrated by Henry Cole. The series recently expanded to include stories about Katy Duck’s best friend in Ralph and the Rocket Ship as well her little brother in Emmett and the Bright Blue Cape. Other works include a series of interactive non-fiction photo essays including, My First Soccer Game and My First Yoga Class. Her newest picture books and poetry include, The Library Fish, The Library Fish Learns to Read, and All That Is You. Alyssa is the recipient of numerous awards including the Washington Irving Award, the Garden State Award, the Bank Street College Best Book Award, the Oppenheim Portfolio Gold Award, and the American Library Association Award. She has contributed to numerous publications including Renaissance Reading’s What Kids are Reading and has taught in the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College.
