
Winsome Bingham left her “teacher-self behind” to write books for teen-tiny babies, toddlers, tweens, and teens. She is a literacy advocate helping children find a book that is “just right” for them. She is committed to helping children find their own voice and control their own narrative.
Her book, SOUL FOOD SUNDAY, illustrated by Caldecott Honoree C. G. Esparanza, has garnered many awards including The Coretta Scott King Award for illustrations and a New York Times Best Book of the Year. Her book, THE WALK, illustrated by E. B. Lewis was an NPR Book of the Day. It received many accolades securing a spot on The Jane Addams Peace Association shortlist.
She is an award-winning author whose books centers community, family, and military life. She is a connoisseur of soul food, a master cook, a military war veteran, a teacher, and a writing coach for little ones. She received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education and technology, and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults.
